Refilling a butane lighter involves several steps that are generally applicable across different models.

Step 1: Prepare Your Lighter
Ensure your lighter is completely empty before refilling. To expel remaining gas and air, shake the lighter and press the refill valve using a small screwdriver or a similar tool. This step prevents air pockets that can impair gas flow.

 

Step 2: Choose the Right Butane
Select high-quality butane to avoid clogging the lighter’s valve with impurities. Butane quality can significantly impact the longevity and performance of your lighter.

Step 3: Attach the Refilling Nozzle
Most butane refills come with a universal adaptor system. Choose the appropriate adaptor that fits snugly into your lighter’s refill valve.

Invert the lighter and press the butane canister's nozzle into the refill valve. Apply gentle pressure for about 5-10 seconds. Repeat this step as necessary, allowing time for the gas to settle before checking if more butane is needed.

Step 5: Allow the Lighter to Rest
Once refilled, set the lighter aside for a few minutes. This allows the butane to warm up to room temperature, stabilizing its pressure inside the lighter.

After letting it rest, ignite the lighter to ensure it’s working correctly. Adjust the flame height if necessary with the adjustment slot at the bottom of the lighter.
